Each bar is equipped with rubber washers that slide freely on the steel rod. You position the nipple or glans between two washers, then bring them closer to apply the desired pressure. The tighter you squeeze, the more intense the compression. The friction of the rubber on the steel is enough to hold the washers in place — no risk of them suddenly slipping.
